As an Occupational Therapist with Gentiva, you will:
- Assess and screen patients' daily living/working skills and develop a
therapeutic retraining program with measurable objectives. Administer
and interpret diagnostic and prognostic tests of function to patients in
their homes or other settings to assist the physician in evaluating the
patient's level of function.
- Confer with the patients' physicians and other healthcare team members
and participate in development/revision of the Plan of Care Treatment.
- Provide therapeutic treatment and instruction to patients in accordance
with physician orders to improve/restore strength, coordination,
range-of-motion and function or teach compensation measures.
- Review and expand retraining programs in a manner consistent with the
behavioral goals of patient and within the guidelines of the
rehabilitation program as a whole.
- Consult with other vocational team members, as appropriate, to develop
and implement vocationally-oriented plans consistent with the needs and
capabilities of patients.
- Report patients' status and progress to the physician, rehabilitation
staff, Clinical Manager, patient and family members.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an occupation therapy curriculum accredited jointly by
the Commission on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the
American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy
Association OR eligible for the National Registration Examination of the
Occupational Therapy Association. (If initially licensed prior to
December 31, 1977 may qualify by having two years experience as a
physical therapist and having achieved a satisfactory grade on a
proficiency examination conducted, approved, or sponsored by the US
Public Health Service.)
- Six months as an Occupational Therapist generally required
- Current licensure/certification in the state of practice and current
CPR certification
- Good organizational and communications skills
- Ability to function with minimal supervision
